MAG Box IPTV Setup: Portal Configuration in 4 Steps

MAG boxes by Infomir are the old-school workhorses of IPTV — no apps, no logins, just a portal URL and everything appears like classic cable. If you own one (MAG 250 through the current 540 series), setup takes four steps.

How MAG activation works

MAG boxes authenticate by their MAC address — the hardware ID printed on the sticker under the box, starting with 00:1A:79. Your provider registers that MAC on their panel; the box then loads everything from a portal URL. No username or password ever gets typed.

Step 1 — Find your MAC address

Flip the box over: the sticker shows MAC: 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. You can also see it on-screen under Settings → Device info. Always use the 00:1A:79 one — that’s the Infomir range providers expect.

Step 2 — Send it to your provider

Message the MAC to your IPTV service. With us it’s a WhatsApp message; we register it and reply with your portal URL — usually within minutes. A portal URL looks like:

http://server-address/stalker_portal/c/

Step 3 — Enter the portal URL

  1. On boot, go to Settings → System settings → Servers → Portals.
  2. Set Portal 1 name: anything (e.g. “TV”).
  3. Set Portal 1 URL: paste exactly what your provider sent — every slash matters.
  4. Save (usually the F1/red button or OK), then go back.

Step 4 — Reboot

Settings → Restart device, or pull the power for 10 seconds. On boot the box contacts the portal and loads channels, VOD, and the program guide. Done.

Troubleshooting the classics

“Loading portal…” forever — one of three things: a typo in the URL (compare character by character), your MAC isn’t registered yet (ask the provider to confirm), or the box’s internet is down (test with the built-in browser).

“STB is blocked” — the MAC on the provider side doesn’t match. Re-send the exact 00:1A:79 MAC from the sticker.

Channels load but many freeze — network, not the box: MAGs love Ethernet. See the buffering fixes.

Wrong guide times — set your timezone under Settings → System settings → Time zone; the EPG realigns after a reboot.

Is a MAG still worth using in 2026?

If you own one: absolutely — they’re stable and dead simple. If you’re buying new hardware today, a Firestick or Android box gives you modern apps, 4K, and VOD interfaces for less money (device comparison in our players guide).
